ROTTERDAM: Euro RSCG Worldwide instantly became a major player in

the Dutch market last week by acquiring Bikker Communications, one of

the Netherlands’ largest independent shops.

The deal, which adds 130 employees and an estimated dollars 11 million

in annual billings to the Euro RSCG network, was motivated by the firm’s

desire to shore up several of its key practice areas, according to

spokesperson Teri Everett.

’Their strong position in corporate communications and their potential

for global expansion made this work,’ she said. Everett added that

Bikker’s healthcare client base, which includes global giants like Glaxo

Wellcome, also proved a key element in the deal.

Bikker founder Leendert Bikker said he had begun a search for a global

partner a year ago, with mixed results. ’Euro RSCG’s interest in

creating a new professional service network in corporate communications

sparked the partnership,’ he explained.

In addition to corporate capabilities, Bikker offers media relations,

branding and marketing services.
