to hype the city as a hi-tech hotbed. Duffey was chosen over GCI Group

and Edelman.

An RFP for the account was issued last December, when Ketchum/Atlanta

resigned after working with the city for less than a year. While local

scuttlebutt suggested that the chamber was unhappy with Ketchum’s work,

Kathy Doherty, previously the chamber’s VP of marketing and

communications, said, ’There were some things I wanted to speed up and

some things I wanted to slow down.’ Doherty accepted a position as VP of

marketing for Ketchum shortly after the account was awarded to

Duffey.

Ketchum GM Jane Shivers characterized potshots at her agency as

’amusing’ and said that the decision to resign the account was a

business move.

’The new RFP said only media relations, they wanted somebody on staff at

the chamber and (the account) was only dollars 250,000,’ she said.
