Diary: Special FX wiz offers snow job to pros

Here at our offices, where sub-freezing temperatures pose only a slightly greater threat to press deadlines than the dollars 2 drink specials next door, nothing warms our hearts more than an e-mail offering more snow.

Dieter Sturm, president of Sturm’s Special Effects, dropped us a note to

let the PR community know that his company has mastered the art of

summertime snowmaking and is now available for PR campaigns. To view

Sturm’s work, you need only rent such peppy flicks as Lorenzo’s Oil, A

Simple Plan or Fargo. Recently, his company has winterized promotions

for Bud Ice, Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble.

’I believe there will be many companies wanting to tie real snowmaking

into their PR efforts,’ Sturm wrote. There’s no word, however, on

whether his company might rev up its snowmakers for the hotly

anticipated Burson-Marsteller/Edelman snowball fight.
