SAN FRANCISCO: Della.com, the online bridal and gift registry

formerly known as Della & James, has shifted its nearly dollars 500,000

account from Alexander Ogilvy to Red Whistle, the Weber Group consumer

tech spin-off launched last month.

According to Della.com PR manager Lindsay Louden, the account was put up

for review at the start of January, though she did not give any specific

reasons for the shift. ’It was just a strategic decision to revamp

efforts and make a change,’ she said.

Alexander Ogilvy was invited to participate in the competitive review,

but was overtaken by Red Whistle’s combination of skill and enthusiasm,

Louden said. ’Red Whistle shone in their presentation. They really stood

out.’

Della.com is the second new business win for Red Whistle since the

agency’s January debut. Greenlight.com, an online auto-buying e-commerce

start-up backed by Silicon Valley VC powerhouse Kleiner Perkins Caufield

& Byers, also selected Red Whistle as its first PR firm of record in a

competitive review last month.

Currently available in a handful of regional markets, such as Orlando

and Greensboro, NC, Greenlight.com has plans for nationwide expansion

later this spring. Though well-financed, the company must contend with a

host of direct competitors in the online car buying space.

’There are lots of good eggs in their basket, so this should be a very

exciting account,’ said Red Whistle president Lee McEnany Caraher.
