NEW YORK: The PR profession lost a highly respected member earlier this

month with the passing of Phyllis Berlowe, who died of pneumonia. Among

her professional accomplishments were stints as president of both the

PRSA and Women Executives in Public Relations.





NEW YORK: The MWW Group has hired Ronn Torossian as a VP in its recently

opened New York office. He joins the agency from G.S. Schwartz, where he

was a senior account supervisor working on accounts for Clinique and

Yankelovich Partners, among others. Before that, he was a press liaison

for Israeli political party World Likud, concentrating on crisis

communications and media relations.

NEW YORK: GetConnected, a Web resource that allows customers to compare

telephony charges, has handed Sloane & Company its dollars 400,000

annual account. The agency has also been hired by Dash.com, a shopping

portal part-owned by Omnicom, and online trading firm Edgetrade.com

(fees of around dollars 240,000 per year).

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has hired John Castellani as managing

director. Formerly an EVP at Tenneco, Castellani will report directly to

CEO of Burson/USA Joseph Fisher.





ATLANTA: Peachtree Software has hired Christopher Bacey as PR director.

Previously with Golin-Harris, Bacey replaces Brad MacAfee, who shifted

to another post within the company.





DALLAS: Bandwear.com, an online music merchandise and memorabilia store,

has hired Michael & Partners to raise awareness of the site. The account

adds dollars 100,000 to the Dallas-based agency’s coffers.





NEW YORK: Polo Ralph Lauren group president and chief marketing officer

Hamilton South will step down on April 1 after four years with the

company.Shouldering the PR burden until a replacement is named will be

SVP of communications and marketing Lynn Tesoro and VP of IR Nancy

Murray.
