Marvin.

Trotted out for a quick meet and greet with the press, Marvin attempted

to entertain the assembled throng with a one liner: ’That great sucking

sound you hear is the sound of the media’s lips coming off of John

McCain’s ...’ He then let the gag trail off.

Dubya quickly snapped into damage-control mode, telling reporters that

his brother’s comment was intended to be off the record. ’Now you see

why I don’t get out much,’ Marvin later quipped.

As for McCain, he seems to be basking in the glow of his unlikely

resurgence.

While it is often said that winning is the greatest deodorant, reporters

needed more than that to clean themselves up after a recent stop in

South Carolina.

Spokesman Todd Harris started a food fight which saw everything from

rolls to ice cubes get hurled at scribes like Michael Isikoff and The

Wall Street Journal’s Alan Murray. ’That’s what happens when you get

your staff from prison work-release programs,’ McCain joked.
