DIARY: A comic book for plain old English?

When you were in the fifth grade, did you dream of having the job you have today? Do you now find yourself daydreaming of being more like, say, Wonder Woman? If so, you might want to check out Zoom, the first comic book produced entirely by marketing pros.

comic book produced entirely by marketing pros.

The first (and only) issue features a horde of faceless techies

frantically trying to explain to venture capitalists what makes their

respective products unique. The company that produced it,

California-based Zoom Marketing, is using the volume to promote its

’Zoom Technique,’ which they claim can cut through even the thickest

’technobabble’ to state the ’point that matters’ of any hi-tech product

in plain English.

And while the book is entertaining, we regret to inform you that this

supposed paean to straight talk opens with, ’Wherever the harmonic power

of a shared vision is muted by the noisesome din of subjective

interpretation ...’

So we’re not quite out of the woods quite yet
