SAN FRANCISCO: Red Whistle Communications, Weber Group's San Francisco-based consumer tech spin-off, has poached hi-tech marketing veteran Wendy Citron away from Hewlett-Packard to head up its new integrated marketing group.

According to Red Whistle president Lee Caraher, the new practice will offer services normally considered outside the boundaries of traditional PR, such as market investigation, positioning and branding, marketing planning and customer experience consulting.

'We get so many queries from emerging companies that need marketing plans and other services beyond the realm of what would be thought of as PR,' Caraher explained. 'Our goal is to be a VP of marketing for those companies who need one.'

Citron comes to Red Whistle after 10 years at HP, where she helped establish alliances with Disney, Intel and Microsoft, and built the company's longest-running inkjet business loyalty program. Most recently, she launched and managed HP's Printable Expressions product line.

Red Whistle recently opened its doors in New York City.
