ST. GEORGE, UT: SkyWest Airlines has created a new division that

will unify its communications and human resources functions.

Manager of corporate communications Bo Stroyls will report to Necia

Clark-Mantle, anointed head of the new ’people division’ last month. The

new unit will house all marketing, recruitment, human resources, and

internal/external communications functions.

Stroyls, who previously reported to the company’s head of marketing,

expects to bring additional PR staff on board but isn’t yet sure what

the hiring timetable will be. Including Stroyls, SkyWest boasts 11

people in its marketing department and 10 in human resources. She is the

only person working on PR, and the airline does not employ any outside

PR firms.

SkyWest is the fourth-largest regional air carrier in the country,

operating Delta Connection flights out of Salt Lake City and United

Express flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland,

OR. The airline handles roughly 1,000 flights a day, flying 89

turboprops and 11 jets.

While the airline has been in business since 1972, it decided to create

the people division because ’it combines a lot of areas that naturally

seem to integrate themselves,’ said Stroyls.
