Not all PR is external, as any pro knows, and late last month DaimlerChrysler hit a home run in the internal department with its all-day ’Wild Wheels at Work’ program.

DaimlerChrysler hit a home run in the internal department with its

all-day ’Wild Wheels at Work’ program.

Employees were invited to bring ’anything with wheels’ to a display at

the company’s North American HQ, resulting in a turnout of some 250

collector cars and motorcycles of varying makes and eras.

Included were cars from the personal collections of DC president Jim

Holden, EVP Tom Gale and PR VP Steve Rossi (whose 1930 Franklin

rumble-seat roadster is seen above).

A carnival atmosphere prevailed at the event, held atop an employee

parking garage at the suburban Detroit location, and the company swung

for box lunches for the employees who brought vehicles to show.

On the external PR side, Rossi invited a small media contingent to a

breakfast preview of Holden’s car collection at his lakeside home as

well as to the employee show.
