LONDON: Celador Productions, the producers of Who Wants to be a

Millionaire?, has hired Ruth Settle as head of press and PR.

Settle has been charged with responsibility for all aspects of PR,

including corporate affairs, program publicity for Celador productions

and international press and publicity for Millionaire, which is now

produced in 22 countries and will soon be on the air in 55 more. Settle

has worked in TV and radio publicity for over six years, most recently

as PR director for Talk Radio.

Settle’s appointment means that Celador’s retainer relationship with

Freud Communications is about to come to an end, although it is expected

that the company will use agencies on a project basis in the future.

Freud had been handling PR for Millionaire since before the show debuted

in September 1998.

Millionaire was sharply criticized last year when a contestant’s

winnings were reported in the media before the show was aired,

reportedly with the consent of the show’s producers. Settle said

guidelines have been put into place to ensure that this doesn’t happen

again.
