Thirteen years ago, his 14-year-old son Andrew was diagnosed with spinal

muscular atrophy (SMA), a rare disease. Andrew has Type 2 SMA, which has

left him unable to walk, but most infants born with Type 1 SMA rarely

see their second birthday. There is no treatment or cure.

Slay has put together a nationwide tour with AMF Bowling and Xtreme

bowler Thomas Becker to raise awareness and funds for research. Slay

would like PR firms to get involved by forming teams, sponsoring

Becker’s strikes and - here’s the PR challenge - getting the media to

cover the tour and the fund-raising effort.

’I’d like the industry to help these kids and the movement along,’ Slay

says.
