LONDON: Reuters Information, which accounts for 53% of the Reuters

Group’s total revenues, is seeking a PR agency with Internet expertise

for its global PR account.

The search follows the appointment of Anne-Marie Highley to the newly

created post of head of global PR and sponsorship. Currently based at

Reuters’ London HQ, Highley was previously head of marketing

communications at Reuters UK/Ireland. Joanna Edwards has replaced her in

that role.

In addition to leading the agency search, Highley is looking to increase

the company’s in-house PR staff. ’Reuters is taking its strategy to

bring everything online very seriously,’ she said.

According to newly appointed director of international marketing

communications Amanda West, the global PR and sponsorship push is

designed to maximize exposure of the Reuters Information brand. ’PR will

clearly help us build communities and deliver our message,’ she

said.

Reporting to managing director of marketing Devin Wenig, West will

oversee the move of Reuters Information’s services and products onto the

Web.

’We want to make financial markets really work on the Internet,’ West

said. ’Communications will play a critical role as we begin to sell to a

much wider audience through virtual channels.’
