New York office, luring healthcare exec Phil Sheldon away from Porter

Novelli.

The appointment fills a position that has effectively been vacant since

last November, when Jeff Raleigh relocated to H&K’s West Coast

operation.

Sheldon, 54, starts work today. He said his top priority is ’to put the

New York office back in the top three within the next 18 months.’

H&K ranks ninth in New York, according to PRWeek data. The office grew

PR income by 3% in 1999 to almost dollars 24 million.

’The challenge will be to get H&K/New York where it was,’ Sheldon

added.

Previously an EVP and head of PN’s NY healthcare practice, Sheldon has

vowed not to raid clients or staff from his former agency. His former

second-in-command, SVP Suzanne Gabriel, replaces him in the healthcare

post.

The NY GM position had been filled by H&K president Tom Hoog on an

interim basis.
