Diary: Pro steals his 15 minutes of fame

When Columbia Pictures spokesperson Matt Heien and Heath Ledger (currently in theaters as Mel Gibson’s son in The Patriot) stepped out of a limousine prior to a Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee appearance last month, the paparazzi were ready for them - sort of. The problem: the lensmen didn’t know who the celebrity was.

When Columbia Pictures spokesperson Matt Heien and Heath Ledger

(currently in theaters as Mel Gibson’s son in The Patriot) stepped out

of a limousine prior to a Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee appearance

last month, the paparazzi were ready for them - sort of. The problem:

the lensmen didn’t know who the celebrity was.

When one yelled, ’Which one is Heath?’ Ledger pointed to Heien, who

promptly smiled for the cameras and signed a few autographs.

Alas, the prank proved short-lived, according to Heien: ’Finally, Heath

stepped in and said, ’Excuse me, we really have to get inside now. Heath

is late.’’

The moral of this story? Maybe celebrity publicists have a sense of

humor after all.
