market late last month when two highly regarded industry veterans, Kay

Breakstone and Carol Ruth, joined forces.

Breakstone, formerly president and CEO of Ludgate Communications, has

opened her own shop in a joint venture with The Ruth Group, founded a

year ago by former Edelman financial PR head Carol Ruth. Breakstone

becomes president and CEO of the new entity, dubbed Breakstone & Ruth

International.

’Interpublic Group put all its companies under the Golin/

Harris and Shandwick names, but I feel that corporate financial work is

better done in a specialist atmosphere,’ Breakstone said.

The new firm collectively boasts 17 employees and is offering equity to

lure additional staffers. It will share office space with The Ruth

Group, which retains its own clients.

The firm will work on a long-term retainer basis with typical fees

ranging between dollars 10,000 and dollars 15,000 a month. Breakstone is

a former Dean Witter analyst who previously spent 20 years at Burson

Marsteller.
