LOS ANGELES: Public affairs consultancy Greer/Dailey has brought George Minter on board as a principal and changed its name to Greer/Dailey/Minter. The addition of Minter, formerly director of public affairs for Southern California Gas, gives the agency expertise for a push into the energy and environmental sectors. Minter will continue to serve on the boards of the Los Angeles Family Housing Corp. and Alternative Living for the Aged.

DETROIT: General Motors has bumped Randy Fox up the PR ladder to manager

of product communications for Chevrolet. He will now be responsible for

new product launches and the media test-drive vehicle fleet.





NEW YORK: Actors’ Equity Association has appointed David Lotz

communications director. Lotz, who formally begins his new job next

Monday, has worked as a theater publicist for more than 15 years. Among

the productions he has recently publicized are Bruce Vilanch’s Almost

Famous and the long-running off-Broadway musical Secrets Every Smart

Traveler Should Know.





NEW YORK: SFX, the world’s largest producer and promoter of live

entertainment, has promoted Howard Schacter to VP of PR. He was

previously VP of communications for the company’s sports group.





AUSTIN: Niehaus Ryan Wong has thrown open its doors in the hi-tech hub

of Austin. Leading the new office is director Hedy Baker, who joined NRW

from Compaq. The Austin outpost is the agency’s third.





WASHINGTON, DC: Ketchum SVP and group manager Bonnie Lieb, credited with

growing the firm’s DC hi-tech practice into a dollars 4 million

operation, has departed to join WebOS.com as VP of marketing and

communications.





NEW YORK: Manning, Selvage & Lee has boosted its IR capabilities by

adding Michael Buchanan as VP and director of IR. He arrives from

Thomson Investor Relations, where he was a VP.





WHITE PLAINS, NY: The March of Dimes has promoted Stephanie Harwood to

VP of communications and media relations in its national office.





NEW YORK: Dan Klores Associates has lured Jon Stern away from

Burson-Marsteller to serve as an EVP in its media/business/sports

division. Stern, who led Burson’s brand-marketing practice, has worked

with Citibank, Sprint and McDonald’s.





NEW YORK: Sloane & Company has expanded its hi-tech practice with the

addition of former Miller/Shandwick SVP Tara Lynch. Lynch, who joins

Sloane as an SVP, worked on accounts for Dun & Bradstreet and Compaq

accounts at M/S.





MIAMI: The Jeffrey Group and Shandwick have ended a three-year-old

partnership through which Jeffrey provided PR for Shandwick’s Latin

American clients. Jeffrey Group CEO Jeff Sharlach said that only 3% of

its more than dollars 3 million in fees stemmed from work with

Shandwick. Weber/RBB CEO Bruce Rubin, speaking on behalf of sister

company Shandwick, said only that ’a new approach will be in place

soon.’





RESTON, VA: Cysive has tapped Ruder Finn’s DC hi-tech practice for PR.

The firm has been charged with raising awareness of Cysive in the trade

press.
