NEW YORK: Entertainment and sports titan SFX is on the cusp of

hiring its first global PR agency of record.

The company sent out an RFP last month to 10 multinationals, including

Fleishman-Hillard, Edelman, Golin/Harris, Cohn & Wolfe,

Burson-Marsteller, Hill & Knowlton and GCI, and will likely make its

selection by the end of August.

The successful candidate will be charged with a wide range of tasks -

from corporate branding to online services - and oversee the handful of

specialist firms with which SFX works. Generating awareness is also a

pivotal part of the company’s plans. ’We’re not where we want to be

yet,’ said newly appointed VP of PR Howard Schacter, who is directing

the search.

SFX will continue to retain Dan Klores Associates for what Schacter

calls ’senior consultation.’ Schacter is also eager to build SFX’s

corporate PR department and is actively soliciting resumes.
