BOSTON: The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism has hired

New York-based Development Counsellors International for its domestic

PR.

DCI beat out three other NY firms and four Massachusetts firms for the

contract, expected to be worth about dollars 225,000 in annual

billings.

The finalists for the account included DCI, incumbent Lou Hammond and

Associates, Bishoff Solomon Communications and Aigner Associates.

MA tourism PR manager Karen Gray said the shift from Lou Hammond, which

had held the account for three years, was part of a review that

included the hiring of a new ad agency, Boston’s CGN. ’There was a wave

of change looking for new ideas,’ said Gray.

DCI president Andy Levine credited the firm’s win to its track record:

’We’ve worked with 35 of 50 states on either tourism or economic

development.’
