Telecom is planning a radical restructuring of its in-house PR

team.

BT’s director of group communications Robin Pauley confirmed that while

no plans had been finalized, PR staff changes were inevitable in the

near future.

’Press and PR need to change to match the new-look BT,’ she said. ’The

company’s restructuring provides us with an opportunity to do new

things, but it’s not a downsizing exercise - it’s a remodeling

exercise.’

Right now, BT is not planning to tweak immediately its 12-strong agency

core roster, which includes Band & Brown Communications, Biss Lancaster

and Le Fevre. But senior press and broadcasting officer Robert Dunnett

confirmed that the roster will be reviewed during the months ahead.

BT is also currently searching for a replacement for director of

external communications Ted Graham, who is retiring at the end of

September. Existing head of UK PR campaigns Tim Johns was recently made

head of news to strengthen the press office in advance of Graham’s

departure.
