HONG KONG: AT&T has raided the agency world to hire Greg Brutus as

regional director of PR for Asia-Pacific.

Brutus joins from hi-tech shop Newell Public Relations, where he was

account director. He replaces Miranda Duff, who relocated to New Jersey

to join the communications team of Concert, the joint venture between

AT&T and British Telecom.

Reporting to Sue Fleming, AT&T’s international PR director, Brutus will

be responsible for heading the company’s PR across the Asia-Pacific

region except in Japan, which is handled separately by PR director

Chiyoko Saeki.

His charge includes PR support for a handful of the company’s joint

ventures: Birla AT&T Communications in India, FarEasTone in Taiwan and

Subic Telecom in the Philippines.

AT&T, which boasts 11 offices and more than 750 employees across Asia,

will continue to retain Newell rival Euan Barty Associates for PR in

the region. ’Our regional team is fairly small, so I will rely on EBA

for support,’ Brutus said.

At Newell, Brutus served as senior counsel for clients such as Citrix

Systems.
