SACRAMENTO, CA: The race for the California Office of Family

Planning’s dollars 37 million account has been narrowed down to

incumbent Hill & Knowlton and Deen+Black.

The three-year, dollars 37 million contract will be split between PR

and other marketing programs. The RFP emphasizes grass-roots efforts to

curb teen pregnancy and encourage responsible parenting.

H&K and D+B were told on July 11 to prepare for a two-hour presentation

and half-hour Q&A session on July 20. The entire account team was

required to attend.

’The office worked quickly to give us notification, which shows that

they’re serious about getting the account started,’ said D+B partner

Christi Black. ’We were surprised that it came down to only two

teams.’

A decision is expected by mid-August.
