According to Hamling her decision to shift jobs was prompted by lifestyle factors. 'Over the past year, I have been constantly on the road going back and forth between Atlanta and Pasadena. And for the past five years I have been basically doing the telecommuting thing. It was just time to settle down and grow up,' she explained.

She will oversee PR and IR, as well as working to coordinate strategic messaging and consolidate international communications. During her tenure at Earthlink, Hamling oversaw the company's rise from regional ISP to national brand, steering it through its IPO, merger with Mindspring and subsequent stock offerings.

Dan Greenfield, former VP corporate communications for Earthlink-owned OneMain, has replaced Hamling.
