NEW YORK: PRWeek was voted Magazine of the Year in the prestigious Folio: Editorial Excellence Awards 2000 last week.

PRWeek won the Gold Medal in the Advertising/ Marketing category. Other winners at the awards, held at the Hilton Hotel, included Business 2.0, Time, PC Computing, and Bloomberg.

The judges commented: '(PRWeek) puts PR on the map by clearly showing the industry's influence and importance.'

Editor-in-chief Adam Leyland said: 'It's nice to get recognition from other journalists for the outstanding editorial standards we have brought to this magazine. The PR industry has a magazine of which it can be proud.'

Leyland added that he enjoyed the fact that PRWeek beat out ad magazines to win. 'While some will argue that PR is about more than marketing, to me, the fact we've won in this category is yet another sign of PR's growing importance in the marketing arsenal.'

Since its launch in November 1998, PRWeek has built a circulation of 15,000.
