In a conference call with analysts Monday, November 13 the CMGI-backed entertainment site confirmed it would be winding down operations unless it could find a buyer.

iCast.com drew a top-flight marketing team, including Stuart Zakim, VP of PR. His background includes a stint as VP national publicity Universal Pictures and a period at Playboy. His team included Bill Golden, director of communications; Kim Wallace, senior publicist, and Shannon Arell, publicist.

Fred Siegel, SVP of marketing, joined from Excite@home in August.

iCast also employed three PR agencies: the Hayley Sumner Company in LA; Four Corners Communications in New York and Edelman in Washington, DC.

Just two months ago, the ICast PR team was hiring new staff and looking at the possibility of hiring a fourth PR agency.

Zakim confirmed the PR staff was looking for new jobs and said all agency fees would be honored. He said the closure was 'a drag. I felt with CMGI backing it would do well ... I have been aware that things were not 100% for some time.'

Zakim said his role during the next few months would be to keep the media well briefed on developments and to refer calls to CMGI.
