LAST CALL: Getting a buzz from bigger business

It's not unusual for managers to tell minions to give their all for their firms. But the four managing principals at Innis Maggiore Group decided to do something a bit different. They've given their all for their employees - all their hair, that is.

It's not unusual for managers to tell minions to give their all for their firms. But the four managing principals at Innis Maggiore Group decided to do something a bit different. They've given their all for their employees - all their hair, that is.

The four top execs at the Canton, Ohio integrated communications firm pledged in March to shave their heads if the agency could achieve dollars 1.33 million in monthly capitalized billings. Happily (or unhappily?) the company hit the goal in October and its 26 employees received a dollars 300 bonus.

Honoring their pledge, president Dick Maggiore; VP of client service Tom Merrill; VP of creative services Jeff Monter and VP of PR Dan Pecchia had a local barber shave their domes in front of the office and local media. The stunt was covered in Canton's daily paper and in a local weekly, as well as engendering calls from clients. 'It created quite a buzz,' groaned Pecchia.

He added that it feels cool as well, although it has meant some changes in his life. 'I spent some of my bonus on hats,' he said.
