NEW YORK: Ketchum has shuffled its senior management deck with the recent announcement of several appointments in London and San Francisco.

Jon Higgins, the San Francisco-based partner and MD who oversaw the agency's operations in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Sacramento, will relocate to London in February 2001 as CEO of Ketchum UK.

In his new role, Higgins will head Ketchum's 150-person London office where clients include AC Nielsen, Duracell, FedEx and the British Fashion Council. The post was previously occupied by James Maxwell, who was promoted to CEO of Ketchum's European operations in September.

Higgins joined Ketchum in 1994 as SVP and associate director of the San Francisco office, and was named director and partner in 1997.

Replacing him in the 140-person San Francisco office is associate director and partner Dave Samson.

Since joining Ketchum two years ago, Samson, in addition to acting as associate director, has led the San Francisco corporate practice and run the Visa account, which involved heading a multi-office, multi-practice team that hailed from the Bay Area and Washington, DC. Most recently, he was a member of the crisis communications team advising Bridgestone/Firestone. Prior to joining Ketchum, Samson was VP of global communications for Levi Strauss & Company.

Ketchum has also named Paul McKeon, partner and chief e-business officer, as director of its global technology practice. The position was previously held by Silicon Valley-based Susan Thomas, who will continue to act as a senior consultant to the practice following her departure.

McKeon, who joined Ketchum three years ago when it acquired his agency, Crescent Communications, leads the firm's digital strategy, overseeing the introduction of myKGN, a company-wide intranet and extranet platform.
