What do you do there? As president, I try and guide the firm's philosophy. And make sure we don't run out of copy paper.

How do you make a difference? We care as much for the candidates as the clients, and work hard to make the best marriage of the two. We follow the candidates after they join the client and make sure all is working well.

Tell us something embarrassing about your company. We have the most active Web site of any of our competitors; for years, we had a major typo on the front page. I shall say no more.

What is the most interesting thing you have done lately? I bought - via an Amazon auction - one of the Cow Parade cows that were displayed all over New York City last summer. She's called the 'Beast of Light.'

What is your most biggest failure? We tried for 18 months to find someone for a specific position in Kansas City and couldn't. And the client was so nice about it, too. Wanna relocate?

How did you get into PR? I used to have PR departments report to me. I was a major TV exec whose company went under and a very astute person - now a competitor - thought I'd be good at recruiting. That was in 1985.

Who will be the PR industry's next big hero? The person who gets all the correct answers to your next annual quiz!

Who do you most look like? Francis Ford Coppola.

Who or what do you hate most? Recruiters who send resumes without asking a candidate's permission first. It's slimy.

Name one thing about your past that people would be surprised to learn. I used to play with the Boston Symphony. I've won three Emmys. Oh, yes - and I can't count very well!

What would you do if you didn't do what you do? Be a professional timpanist.

What will you do when you retire? I have no plans to retire - this is too much fun.

What would you do on a desert island? Well, I would NOT talk to a volleyball.
