LOS ANGELES: Columbia Tri-Star Television Distribution has hired Andi Sporkin as the new SVP communications and talent relations. She is immediately kicking off a review of the firm's numerous PR agencies and unit publicists.

Sporkin, who joined the company in January, refused to say whether any changes would be made, but has a mandate to 'beef up' the firm's media relations efforts.

The TV company distributes long running series such as Seinfeld, The Nanny and the relationship show Men Are From Mars.

Prior to joining the Sony-owned firm, Sporkin had a five-year stint at CBS Enterprises where she was responsible for much of the firm's international promotion as SVP communications. Her 20-year career in TV includes spells at the Fox Network and Buena Vista Television. She spearheaded PR for shows such as Inside Edition and sales promotions for Martha Stewart Living.

Sporkin was hired by former colleague Bob Oswaks, EVP marketing, and reports to both him and Columbia TriStar Television Distribution president Steve Mosko.

The opportunity to coordinate the firm's talent relations efforts was just the challenge Sporkin, who will head a six-person team, had been seeking. 'We'll look at how to move ahead and build on strengths,' she said. 'There are always improvements you can make.'
