PALO ALTO, CA: Hewlett-Packard, which just two weeks ago announced plans to cut 2% of its workforce, has lost another top PR executive from its consumer-products ranks.

Anne McGrath, a five-year H-P veteran, who most recently served as worldwide media relations manager for the Consumer Business Organization, has quit to head up the San Francisco branch of PR 21.

This is the second high-level defection from H-P's internal corporate and product PR operations. In November, Larry Sennet, who led worldwide media relations, IR, product promotion and issues management, joined Ogilvy to head its global tech practice.

It is not known whether McGrath will be replaced. Both Sennett and McGrath emphasized that their decisions were motivated by personal career issues rather than troubles at H-P.
