LONDON: Golin/Harris International has hired former BBC marketing supremo Sue Farr as its new regional managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She will oversee the agency's planned expansion in Europe.

The Chicago-based firm hopes to buy its way into at least three European cities this year, said Dave Gilbert, president. It now has offices in London; Frankfurt, Germany; and Madrid, Spain.

Farr, former director of public service marketing for BBC Broadcast, will also oversee Golin's two London offices. Last year, the firm took over Ludgate's London office, and now calls it Golin/Harris Ludgate.

'It was time for new challenges,' said Farr, who had joined the BBC in 1993.

'She has incredible experience working within the media,' says Gilbert.

Citing her former duties overseeing a pounds 70 million budget (dollars 103 million) and 300 people at the BBC, Gilbert says, 'she also has the business experience to take on this assignment.'
