Sun, SGI narrowing pool for agency PR

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: The agency reviews for two of Silicon Valley's

highest-profile companies picked up steam this week.

Sun Microsystems put its $10 million business - shared between

Ketchum and agency of record Burson-Marsteller - up for review two weeks

ago.

Sources say Sun has already sent formal RFPs to Citigate Cunningham;

Ogilvy and Burson. Edelman is also said to be angling for an

invitation.

Meanwhile, one of Silicon Valley's most notable - albeit smaller -

firms, SGI, has entered the final round of its review.

FitzGerald, Fleishman-Hillard and Text 100 have reportedly all received

invitations to this week's bake-off for SGI's estimated $1

million account.

Weber Shandwick Worldwide did not make the final list. SGI director of

worldwide PR Richard Marshall said last month that WSW, which had been

working with SGI on a project basis since May 2000, was a top contender.
