WESTWOOD, NJ: BMW of North America is searching for a new manager
of corporate communications. The incumbent, Jack Pitney, has become US
general manager for the new BMW Mini car.
BMW AG, BMW of North America's German parent company, recently named
Peik von Bestenbostel its new head of group communications in Munich,
Germany, but he will not have a hand in selecting Pitney's replacement,
a BMW source said. The newcomer will report to Tom Purves, BMW's North
American operations chairman.
BMW kept the Mini after it sold Britain's troubled Rover group last
It plans to roll out a new version of the small car, positioning it as
an entry-level premium product.
