Beenz.com entrusts MWW to change its course

The job will be tackled by a team of five, headed by VP and group director Michelle Beilsmith. MWW will aid Beenz in repositioning itself around a new loyalty product, rewardzCodes, which offers consumers discounts or rebates through codes printed on retail goods and entered into company Web sites.

Beenz had suffered as part of the overall dot-com industry slump, as it relied on selling to other Web sites for its core business, many of whom have gone under. Particularly in December, as dot-com customer after customer went bust, it announced a round of office closings and heavy cuts to both its US and UK workforces. In February, Beenz CMO Nicolas de Santis defected to Online Travel Portal. His departure followed that of UK marketing chief Jonathan Hogg in January.

Beenz's US VP of corporate communications, Glen Jasper, said MWW was selected from among three mid-sized finalists.

'I had long been a fan of MWW, but the sticking point had been that they didn't have a presence in Manhattan,' said Jasper. 'Now they do, and they really have a focus on technology.'
