Firms set to bid on dollars 1m College IL RFP

SPRINGFIELD, IL: College Illinois, a state-run prepaid college

tuition program, is searching for an agency to handle its dollars 1

million-a-year marketing and PR program. Dome Communications in Chicago

currently handles the PR portion of the program, but state law requires

issuing a new RFP every three years.

A source said Hill & Knowlton, Burson-Marsteller, Golin/Harris and PCI

are among the firms bidding for the work.

College Illinois was created in 1997 and is run by the Illinois Student

Assistance Commission, which will evaluate firms applying for the work

and likely make a decision on winners in mid-June.

Also in Illinois, the Department of Commerce and Community Development

has shortlisted four semifinalists for its dollars 1.4 million tourism

and economic development account (PRWeek, April 9). They are Edelman,

Fleishman-Hillard, Porter Novelli and Burson.
