Celebrity powerhouse created as PMK acquires Huvane Baum Halls

LOS ANGELES: Huvane Baum Halls, the PR agency behind Russell Crowe,

Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, is set to become celebrity

publicity house PMK's first-ever acquisition.

The dollars 1 million-plus agreement is due to be finalized this week

and will deliver control of a huge roster of top Hollywood talent to a

single firm.

PMK, which was purchased by Interpublic Group's Momentum Worldwide two

years ago, is run by Pat Kingsley, famed for her hardball negotiating

tactics. She told PRWeek: 'About a year ago (Momentum vice chairman)

Mark Dowley came and asked who else was there, and we said Huvane Baum

Halls.'

However, when rumors about the two surfaced a year later (last spring)

both parties kept mum.

'We weren't really looking,' said HBH partner Stephen Huvane, 'but they

came in and did a beautiful presentation. We had to decide whether to go

on alone or with partners.'

The new firm will be known as PMK/HBH and will remain part of Momentum

Worldwide.

Kingsley will become managing partner, while Huvane, Robin Baum and

Simon Halls will become managing directors. PMK's Lois Smith and Leslee

Dart will be named deputy managing partners.

The two firms will merge offices in New York and Los Angeles, with HBH

adding its 15 employees to PMK's, which number more than 50.

Huvane said there would be no redundancies as a result.

The move leaves few independent entertainment shops on the West

Coast.

The three major agencies left standing are MPRM, ID-PR and Bumble Ward &

Associates, all of which represent both high-profile acting and

directing talent.
