Engelhart in running to fill Visa's top US comms post

CHICAGO: Visa USA is reportedly considering Chicago PR veteran Hud

Engelhart to fill its top US communications post.

Engelhart, president of KemperLesnick, had no comment on a report in the

Chicago Tribune that he and Visa were in negotiations.

Visa is considering several candidates but no decision has been

made.

John Onoda left his EVP post heading up Visa USA communications early

this year to become SVP and chief communications officer with Charles

Schwab. (PRWeek, January 29, 2001).

Engelhart is a longtime fixture on the Chicago PR scene and many who

know him doubted he would leave the market. But some speculated that

this would be a good time for him to move on.

Engelhart has been trying to rebuild the PR practice at KemperLesnick

after its ill-fated foray into technology PR last year. The firm shut

its tech PR practice this year after suffering losses from dot-com

clients that didn't pay their bills.
