LAST CALL: America's leading women all dolled up for summer tour

It appears that the Mattel PR team has learned something since the

"math is hard" debacle. Sure, Barbie Millicent Roberts - a.k.a. the

Barbie doll - is all glammed up as usual, but this time, America's

plastic sweetheart is dressed as some of America's more esteemed

intellectuals.

The Barbie as First Lady tour represents women with clear goals, not

just clear skin. Barbie is dressed as Eleanor Roosevelt, Nancy Reagan,

Mary Todd Lincoln, Laura Bush (pictured right), and Hillary Clinton.

Yes, that's right. First Lady Barbie just might be headed to a shopping

mall near you.

Making stops in Texas, New York, and California, the 46-doll summer tour

is touted as a celebration of patriotism. So far, the tour has received

contributions from the likes of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential

Center and the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace, among others.

So let's get this straight: Barbie is being showcased as an arm piece to

more successful men, and she's still capitalizing on her clothes, not

portraying the idea to young girls that women can be more than an

outfit.

Hmmm. We're not sure that Sen. Hillary Clinton would be pleased at the

thought of having a Barbie doll modeled after her - especially

considering that she's already had one too many Kens in her life.
