INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Environics opens its second US outpost inWashington, DC

WASHINGTON: Environics Communications, a Toronto-headquartered

firm, has opened an office in Washington, DC, its second in the United

States.



The firm launched its US operations in 1995, establishing a presence in

Stamford, CT.



Bruce MacLellan, founder and president, said: "Washington emerged as the

smart choice because we have a number of clients there." These include

the Association of Hispanic Advertising, Sylvan Learning Centers and the

National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.



Dave Groobert, former senior managing director of Hill & Knowlton's

marketing communications practice, has been named SVP and general

manager. Christine Mohr is being transferred from Environics' Stamford

office as an account executive.



Before joining H&K, Groobert was director of PR for COMSAT Corporation,

a global satellite company.



Environics was founded in 1994 and projects a fee income of dollars 6

million in 2001.
