UK agency opens West Coast shop

SAN FRANCISCO: Lexis Communications Group, an independent UK

agency, has opened its first international office in San Francisco.

Alice Chan Heckman has been hired back as president of the new

operation.

She was Lexis' tenth employee in London, but left the firm to work for

Technology Solutions and InterActive PR in the US.

Lexis plans to specialize in the promoting of start-ups and established

tech companies. CEO Bill Jones seemed unfazed by that market's recent

troubles.

"We are turned on by the fact that some of the heat has gone out of the

market," Jones said. "It is really tough if you have already been

operating in it and are finding yourself having to downsize in that

market."

Lexis has already signed its first new client, xSides. Lexis will handle

market developing, corporate positioning, and media relations for the

Seattle-based software company.
