More cuts at H&K, Burson, Edelman

NEW YORK: Three top-five agencies made further layoffs last week.

Burson-Marsteller laid off 30 employees, reaching across all practice

areas, with 13 infrastructure employees and 17 client services staffers

dismissed.

Several executive-level employees were among those affected by the

cuts.

Burson-Marsteller laid off 5% of its workforce in November 2000. In

April 2001, 20 employees were laid off following the loss of the Sun

Microsystems account, valued at over $12 million.

Hill & Knowlton has also made an additional 23 cuts in its New York

workforce from the media, corporate, and consumer marketing

divisions.

Meanwhile, Edelman made a further 10 cuts in its New York office

following the departure of global tech practice chair Miller Bonner.
