Vegas PR merger continues trend

LAS VEGAS: Las Vegas-based advertising, marketing, and

communications firm Hall Communications has purchased 10-year-old

full-service agency Quillin & Co. Advertising and Public Relations.

Founder Tim Quillin will take on the title VP of marketing, and will

report to Mick Hall, president and CEO of Hall Communications.

"Historically, economic turns have created the opportunity for mergers

and acquisitions," said Hall. "It's the companies who consolidate and

specialize that come out on top."

Among other disciplines, the newly merged company will specialize in

gaming, media, and strategy.

Quillin & Co. had $12 million in revenues last year, and

represents Pulte Homes, Valley Auto-mall, BankWest of Nevada, Las Vegas

Art Museum, Mountain Spa, World Market Center, Stanpark Homes, and

OneCap.

Hall Communications had just over $50 million in billings in

2000. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The merged agency enters an area of extreme PR growth. Not only does Las

Vegas lead the nation in population growth, but membership at the Las

Vegas chapter of the PRSA has more than doubled in recent years to over

120.

Many local PR agencies are merged with ad agencies. The top agency in

the city is R&R Partners, with $3 million in PR billings and

$105 million in ad billings in 1999.
