LAST CALL: PR scores a deluge of Madonna tickets

Seems a fair number of resourceful PR execs got hold of the VIP

phone number for Madonna's Madison Square Garden performance through

Celebrity Bulletin, a publicist-generated daily fax to journalists to

tell them which celebrities are where and how to contact their

representation.

When the fax mentioned Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's publicist, was in town,

some PR execs called her number and were informed how to purchase VIP

tickets.

All of which amounted to a rather sniffy article in The New York Times'

"Sunday Styles" section bemoaning the plight of scoring great seats,

only to be plonked in the middle of a sea of random hangers-on.

An industry source in the know explained it to PRWeek: "It's that

unwritten code among publicists. As a professional courtesy, when

someone else's clients want to go to your event and you have space, you

help them out.

It's always good to help build rapport with the PR execs you might need

someday."

The Material Girl granted no freebies for Drowned World, but industry

buzz is that the concert was nonetheless Something to Remember.
