They say the best way to a client's heart is through his stomach,
right? Hoping dough will lead to, well, dough, a firm in Los Gatos, CA,
has what some might call a pie in the sky idea to luring new clients:
Tech firm Dovetail Public Relations has gone decidedly low-tech by
delivering hot steaming pizzas to 19 companies it hopes to secure as
clients. Apron and chef hat-clad account executives will serve up the
pepperoni pies, purchased from a local Pizza Hut.
"We wanted to deliver our message with extra-special care," said Mark
Coker, president of Dovetail. "If they don't come knocking on our door,
we'll go ahead and knock on theirs."
But Dovetail employees, mindful of tech downturn pink slips, must be a
little concerned. It's just a small step from shouting, "Knock, knock -
pizza boy!" to asking "Do you want fries with that?"
