Waggener Edstrom finds new business despite slump in CA

SAN FRANCISCO: Waggener Edstrom has been named agency of record for

Universal Electronics, marking its continued expansion into

California.

The agency has also been retained by Roamable in Santa Monica, and has

been "aggressively" pursuing California business over the past few

months despite the tech downturn.

"There are significant PR opportunities in this region," said VP Kim

Bouic, one of two people who has been spearheading the client push.

"Yes, the climate has been difficult, but the tech sector is still

growing, especially in the communications arena." She added that

agencies are expected to prove their value more and more.

Universal Electronics is a software company that manufactures universal

remote control products and other wireless interface technologies. Bouic

would not disclose budget figures, but said that "it falls in line with

the typical start-up budget figures we are seeing."
