New Line Cinema has new PR head

LOS ANGELES: New Line Cinema has a new PR chief, Christina

Kounelias, who has rejoined the AOL-owned company from Fox

Broadcasting.

Kounelias, who started last Tuesday, was reunited with her old boss,

Russell Schwartz, the newly installed president of domestic

marketing.

The pair had worked together during Kounelias' last stint at the studio

between 1991 and 1997.

Kounelias, who is replaced at Fox by Joe Early, was named EVP of

publicity and promotions, replacing Mary Donovan, who becomes EVP of

corporate affairs.

Kounelias already has her eye on planning Oscars campaigns. "There are

three movies with Oscar potential: Life as a House, Lord of the Rings,

and I am Sam," she said.

Kounelias will be heading a team of approximately 25 publicists based in

New York and Los Angeles.

New Line's most recent hit is Rush Hour 2, which has earned $180

million at the box office.

Its PR division has won two PRWeek awards, including Campaign of the

Year for the movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and New Media

Site of the Year for Lord of the Rings.
