MIAMI: Former Attorney General and Miami native Janet Reno is
seeking a manager to run her campaign to be the 2002 Democratic nominee
If Reno gets the nomination, she will likely face incumbent Jeb Bush (R)
- a potential face-off being compared to the Hillary Clinton-Rudy
Giuliani Senate race.
Reno's interim campaign manager is Susan Vodicka, a friend since the
pair met as volunteers for the Florida Democratic party in the 1972
presidential election. Now president and CEO of public affairs firm The
Vodicka-Quintero Group, Vodicka is donating her firm's time until Reno
hires a campaign manager. That person will be responsible for assembling
a staff, as well as running the campaign.
Vodicka said her firm is simply too small to handle the workload
"It would not make sense to turn my public affairs agency into a
campaign headquarters of this magnitude," she said.
Vodicka will create Reno's website, design materials, handle press
inquiries, and create databases of potential volunteers and fundraisers.
The firm will then hand over the materials to Reno's new campaign
