Greener accepts Fannie Mae offer

WASHINGTON: Fannie Mae brought its lengthy search for a head of

communications to a conclusion last week, as a change of heart had

Porter Novelli MD Chuck Greener accepting the job he had turned down

only weeks before.

As SVP of communications, Greener will preside over Fannie Mae's twofold

PR function, which includes public affairs and corporate

communications.

The job was vacated by Republican PR mainstay John Buckley early this

year for a post with AOL Time Warner.

In Greener, Fannie Mae has found someone of equal stature to Buckley,

who had been communications director for Bob Dole's '96 Presidential

campaign, deputy press secretary for the Reagan/Bush '84 campaign, and

press secretary for the Republican National Committee.

Greener, who will be succeeded at PN by director of global healthcare

Rob Gould, previously served as an aide on the Hill and in the Reagan

White House, as well as press secretary for the RNC prior to the '94

Republican takeover of Congress, which he is largely considered to have

helped orchestrate.
