CAREERS: Where I Work - Rozanne Weissman, Comms/marketing director,Alliance to Save Energy

How long have you been in your job? Four-and-a-half years.

Describe the space you work in: The Alliance has energy-efficient office

space so I joke that everything is efficient except for the humans. My

office lights turn on when I walk in, turn off when I walk out, and dim

and brighten depending on the light level from outside. I have an Energy

Star-labeled computer. The printer is on a timer. The Energy

Star-labeled copying equipment "sleeps" more than I do.

How often do you see your boss? Sometimes too often! I'm one door away

from him ... and one cell phone away. We both leave late-night voicemail

messages for each other ... and for ourselves as reminders.

Who is the smartest person you work with? My board chairman is a US

Senator, his co-chairman is CEO of a large company, the president of the

organization went to Harvard and Brown. I'm in PR, so do you really

think I would make a choice in print?

How often are you still there when the cleaners come around? Too often.

When they start vacuuming, my voice-activated software goes crazy and

types things I never said! At least that's the story when I send

incomprehensible late-night e-mails.

What is the worst thing about working there? The president's

roller-coaster moods. He's a multitasking type-A New Yorker.

What's been your biggest mistake while working there? Not getting more

money up front because I wasn't planning to be here long since my

greater passions are in my previous fields of TV, media, new media,

programs, and telecommunications. I had originally planned to join a

former client from Discovery in a new venture or with another

diversified media company.

What's been your luckiest break while working there? Both of my

multimedia campaigns have won awards and achieved excellent results. My

current, humorous TV PSA, "Static Electricity House," was picked up by

CBS, ABC, CNN Headline News, and CNN Airport Network, in addition to

28,000 airings by local TV stations in every state.

Sneak us a good piece of gossip from your office: Either we are a boring

place, or no one will tell me since I might publicize it.
