CAREERS: Where I Work - Dan Miller, Account supervisor, DDB,Seattle

How long have you been in your job? Six years.

Describe the space you work in: As anyone here will tell you, I'm a neat

freak (some would say that's an understatement). My office is spotless

and my candy dish is always full. My shelves are lined with client

files, books, magazines and tapes, and my walls are covered with

pictures, posters and souvenirs from various campaigns and events. DDB's

offices are one block from Puget Sound, so everyone on my side of the

building gets a nice view of the water. Being on the top floor, we also

get roof deck access, so we can go upstairs and see most of downtown,

Mount Rainier to the south and the Olympic Mountain range to the

west.

Do you socialize with your colleagues? Whenever we can, we go see the

Seattle Mariners play, go bowling, play paintball or go kart racing.

People invite one another to barbecues and parties at their homes, go

golfing on weekends, and generally enjoy each other's company.

Who is the craziest person you work with? You tell me. One has a fetish

for autographed Mariners stuff he buys on eBay. One has about 1,200

videotapes, 1,000 CDs, and 4,500 records in his basement. Another has

been known to walk around in a tiara and feather boa. And then there's

the one who lived in Finland, where she swore off pop culture, but she

now has a cell phone, drives a Jetta, and is in love with Brad Pitt.

What's been your luckiest break while working there? Telling a college

friend who lived down the hall about my first interview here. She

applied and got the job I was interviewing for. I tried again and got a

different one. We're both still at DDB, both happy with our work, and

are still friends.

What is the biggest thing to hit your office in the past year?

February's 6.8 earthquake.

Sneak us a good piece of gossip from your office: Ever since we got the

kiss.com account, online dating within the agency has been at an

all-time high, even though no one will admit to it. Even the guy we call

"Huggy Bear" (the pimp from Starsky & Hutch) is into it.
